Swedish households receiving home deliveries from Gordon increased by 30 per cent

13 per cent of Swedish households received at least one chilled home delivery from the last mile company Gordon in 2022. Compared to 2021, this is an increase of 30 per cent. Gordon's own statistics show that home deliveries of food are here to stay.

Statistics from Svensk Dagligvaruhandel show that e-commerce with groceries decreased from 5.8 per cent in 2021 to 4.5 per cent in 2022. But these statistics do not include home deliveries of ready-made meal kits.

- The pandemic prompted many Swedes to start shopping for food online. Now that the pandemic restrictions have been removed, our own statistics show that most of these people have continued to receive food with home delivery, but fewer people ordered a grocery bag from a grocery store in 2022 than in 2021, says Ali Ghoce.

However, compared to 2019, before the pandemic, grocery retailers' e-commerce with food has increased significantly. At that time, e-commerce accounted for 2.6 per cent of all grocery trade.

More and more households receive more and more deliveries from Gordon

Gordon is the largest in Sweden at home deliveries of food. The company's statistics include home deliveries of grocery bags from grocery stores, ready-made meal kits from various companies such as HelloFresh, Middagsfrid and GI-boxen, and deliveries from food producers with e-commerce. In 2021, 10 per cent of Sweden's households received at least one delivery from Gordon. By 2022, that share had increased to 13 per cent.

Gordon's statistics also show that more and more households are receiving multiple home deliveries of food. In 2021, 46 per cent of households receiving Gordon deliveries had a visit by us at least thrice. In 2022, this proportion had increased to 56 per cent.

Gordon can reach 9 out of 10 Swedes in a week

- Gordon works to make people's everyday lives easier by offering coordinated refrigerated home deliveries. We see that more and more Swedes want to use this option more often. We also see how more and more food producers now want to sell their food directly to consumers using their own e-commerce site and our delivery with an unbroken cold chain from the production facility to the consumer, says Ali Ghoce

With his own statistics, Ali Ghoce wants to give courage to those selling food online.

- We at Gordon can now reach nine out of ten Swedes with our deliveries. This creates conditions for many innovative solutions in the food industry to reach their consumers, says Ali Ghoce.
