– This is a brand new warehouse facility that is customised for us. Now we can shorten the lead times, get closer to central Stockholm and facilitate cooperation with our customers.
These are the words of a very pleased Ihab Mikhail, District Manager for Gordon's new distribution centre in Västberga in southern Stockholm, which became operational on 8 June.
This means that Gordon has moved its distribution centre from Tumba to newly built premises in Västberga.
– Now we are closer to the people we deliver goods to, says Ihab Mikhail.
Another major difference compared to the previous distribution centre in Tumba is that there are now more gates for loading vehicles going out on routes. Compare the 16 gates in Västberga to the seven gates in Tumba. In addition, two gates in the new centre are adapted to receive linehaul deliveries.
– We will have better conditions for sorting incoming goods and be able to load more vans simultaneously. It will be easier to come to us with goods, and it will be easier for us to get out on our routes, says Ihab Mikhail.
Other differences include larger freezer space to accommodate more freezer deliveries and a new and ultra-modern working environment.
– The staff and our drivers have really been looking forward to the move, says Ihab Mikhail.
