Gordon opens new distribution centre in Oslo – expansion in Norway continues

Gordon continues to grow in Norway and is now opening a new distribution centre in Oslo for temperature-controlled deliveries of food and medicines. This is the company’s second major infrastructure investment in Norway in a short space of time, following the establishment of its centre in Bergen earlier this year.

Gordon’s customers include grocery retailers, meal kit companies, food producers and pharmacies – businesses with high standards for traceability and quality.

“Norway is an important market for us. The ability to have food and medicines delivered quickly and safely makes a big difference to everyday life, and we are seeing more and more Norwegians demanding this type of service. With the new distribution centre in Oslo, we are creating the right conditions for continued growth across the country,” says Ali Ghoce, CEO and co-founder of Gordon.

Built to meet the industry’s toughest requirements

The new distribution centre in Oslo has been built and tailored specifically for Gordon’s multi-temperature-zone supply chains. The facility is designed to meet the high standards of quality, traceability and temperature control required in pharmaceutical logistics, including GDP (Good Distribution Practice), the EU’s regulatory framework for the distribution of medicines.

Oro Eiendom, which develops and manages commercial properties in the Oslo region, has built the facility specifically tailored to Gordon’s needs in temperature-controlled logistics.

"Property is at its most interesting when the building becomes a key part of the tenant’s competitive edge. In this project, the aim has been to create a distribution centre that meets strict temperature control requirements whilst also providing space for Gordon’s continued growth. We look forward to seeing the facility fully operational at Viftefabrikken," says Jørgen Haug, Head of Property at Oro Eiendom.

The cold store and freezer room have been supplied by Svalinn, a nationwide contractor with specialist expertise in specialised rooms and buildings for the food industry.

"Gordon sets high standards for temperature control, operational reliability and efficient goods flow. These are requirements that align well with our experience of specialised rooms and buildings for the food industry. For this project, we have supplied a cold store of approximately 1,250 square metres, the freezer room and associated solutions that contribute to stable temperature conditions and the efficient handling of temperature-sensitive goods,” says Hilde Nordli, regional manager at Svalinn.

Bergen, Oslo – and beyond

Gordon now has virtually nationwide capacity in Norway within both consumer and business distribution. With the new terminals in Bergen and Oslo now operational, the company continues to reduce lead times and increase delivery frequency across the country.

"And we’re not finished yet. This is a long-term investment and we’re building a network that will enable us to continue growing alongside our customers", says Ali Ghoce.
