Mylla.se, the marketplace where locally produced food from hundreds of Swedish farmers and food artisans meets food lovers around the country, is now introducing the cardboard-free home delivery experience Gordon Circular - Sweden's first circular system for home deliveries of chilled food. First out are customers with home deliveries in Skåne.
From mid-May, Mylla's customers in Skåne will be able to choose circular packaging for their deliveries. Disposable paper and cardboard packaging will be replaced by Gordon Circular, where the packaging is returned, washed and made ready for a new delivery.
- We have tested Circular for deliveries in Malmö and received fantastic feedback. Sustainability is extremely important to both Mylla and our customers, so we are very happy to now be able to offer a circular solution to customers around Skåne," says Jens Thulin, co-founder and CEO of Mylla.
Reducing climate impact with circular packaging
With the Gordon Circular, the potential for environmental gains is great. A life cycle analysis from Linköping University shows that Gordon Circular only needs to make five loops to have a lower climate impact than a paper bag used once. Compared to a cardboard box, Circular only needs to circulate twice for a lower climate footprint.
- "Through Gordon Circular, we can reduce single-use paper and cardboard waste. We are very pleased to work with Mylla to make it easier for more consumers to receive e-shopped food in a more sustainable way," says Ali Ghoce, CEO of Gordon.
Gordon Circular is developed by last mile company Gordon to reduce the carbon footprint of disposable packaging for e-commerce deliveries. The system includes a two-part packaging solution, traceability, technical platform, customer communication and logistics flow. Last year, Vinnova awarded the solution a grant of SEK 2 million for further development.
