This Christmas, the last mile company Gordon starts temperature-controlled home deliveries of medicines to Apotek Hjärtat's customers.
– Temperature-controlled home delivery of medicines is something that more and more consumers are requesting, and we are pleased to be able to offer it together with Pharmacy Hjärtat, says Ali Ghoce, CEO of Gordon.
Gordon covers most of the Nordic market with temperature-controlled home deliveries of food and medicines purchased online. Gordon uses a so-called active cold chain to ensure the deliveries maintain an even temperature; all terminals are chilled, and the entire fleet consists of refrigerated vans. With the in-house developed HotBot temperature sensor, traffic management can monitor the temperature of the vehicles in real-time and act immediately if a problem arises. The system reduces the amount of packaging by making refrigerants such as ice redundant, reducing the weight of transported goods, and eliminating flows of large cool bags.
Handling medicines also puts specific demands on those making the delivery. Drivers are, therefore, trained in GDP (pharmaceutical distribution legislation) at Gordon Academy to ensure high quality throughout the supply chain.
With the new collaboration with Gordon, Apotek Hjärtat can now offer temperature-controlled home deliveries of medicines to over 90 % of Sweden's population.
