At the beginning of the year, the last mile company Gordon took over responsibility for all home deliveries from Coop's stores in Stockholm, Uppsala, Södermanland and Östergötland counties. This is thanks to an agreement with Coop Butiker & Stormarknader AB. During the year, Gordon therefore expects to be responsible for 90 per cent of Coop's home deliveries in Sweden.
Gordon has delivered grocery bags from Co-op-stores for many years. With the new agreement with Coop Butiker & Stormarknader AB, it is estimated that Gordon will double the number of home deliveries for Coop in 2023 compared to 2022.
- Today, Coop across Sweden uses Gordon's tech platform to orchestrate home deliveries. We are proud to be trusted by Coop Butiker & Stormarknader AB and hope to start collaborations with the remaining Coop organisations to make home deliveries more sustainable and possible for more people, says Ali Ghoce, CEO of Gordon.
Coop manages e-commerce from stores
- For us, range, price and availability are key elements of our online offering. As we move from a central warehouse to store-based e-commerce, our customers will find the same range online as they can get in their physical store at supermarket prices and with a low delivery charge. The change also means that home deliveries can be offered more frequently, from every three hours to every two hours, and here Gordon's last-mile platform offers an effective solution. It is also interesting that Gordon is looking at electrified transport, which contributes to reducing our climate footprint," says Erik Edvardsson, Head of Offer & Flow of Goods at Coop Stores & Supermarkets.
Bread, ready meals and Korean food among new customers
Recently, Gordon has also signed agreements for coordinated home deliveries in Sweden with the bakery chain Gateau AB with operations in Stockholm, Uppsala and Skåne, Gimmie Food selling South Korean food, Nixta selling taco menus and Svenska Brasserier selling ready meals from Stockholm restaurants such as Riche, Teatergrillen and Sturehof. In Denmark, Gordon has partnered with Ghost Chef, which offers ready-to-eat bags of everyday food.
