Malmö's first independent parcel locker for chilled and frozen deliveries is now open. This is thanks to a partnership between last mile company Gordon and Mylla.se, which offers locally produced food from southern Swedish farms.
- We want to offer more flexibility to our customers by enabling them to collect their food from a chilled cabinet instead of having to spend time at home to receive a home delivery," says Jens Thulin, farmer and co-founder of Mylla.
The locker is located in Hub Park's mobility building Solkvarteret in Hyllie and from tomorrow, 25 January, it is possible to place an order from the locker.
More and more people are buying pre-packaged food or ordering food from a specific producer. And more would like to do so if delivery was more flexible. This is noticeable Mylla.se and hopes that this will be the case with the new refrigerated parcel locker, known as Gordon Pickup.
- We are a modern and user-friendly online marketplace. Thanks to our partnership with Gordon, we are an alternative to customers visiting producers and supermarkets themselves to buy locally produced food," says Jens Thulin.
The deployment of the parcel fridge means that people shopping on the mylla.se website who live, work or pass near the locker can choose to have their food delivered to the locker when they pay for their purchases. On Sunday 29 January, the first deliveries will be made to the locker.
A year ago, Gordon placed the first refrigerated parcel locker for ready-made grocery bags in Stockholm and now Gordon has six such parcel lockers in the Stockholm area.
- We plan to place more Gordon Pickup cabinets in Malmö in the future and hope that these will receive the same positive response as our cabinets in Stockholm have received. We are now seeing a rapid increase in the number of deliveries to the cabinets there," says Noah Dager, project manager for Gordon Pickup.
Unique co-operation with coordinated deliveries between Mylla.se and Gordon
At mylla.se it is possible to buy from southern Swedish farmers, producers and brands without intermediaries in the form of a shop.
- Mylla is all about fresh ingredients of the highest quality, straight from the soil of Skåne, without the food having been stored on a shelf. Customers today include private individuals, hotels and restaurants," says Jens Thulin.
Mylla and Gordon have a unique collaboration since spring 2022, which means that Gordon not only delivers groceries from Mylla's distribution centre in Malmö to customers in Skåne, western Sweden and the Stockholm region, but also that Gordon's drivers pick up food from producers, who sell their goods on mylla.se, when they are nearby during their routes.
- Gordon's last mile transport will be a first mile transport for small food producers who want to reach their customers easily. "Gordon's ambition is to connect more grocery bag companies, grocery retailers and local food producers to our coordinated transport," says Ali Ghoce, Gordon's CEO and co-founder.
